This is a sample of content that I wrote for a website for Proboscis: a Mumbai based Corporate Adventure sports training company.
- Waterfall Rappelling
“Your throat is dry, heart racing, muscles tense and you hear your boss’s voice asking if you’re ready to go… No this isn’t a corporate presentation your about to give …
It’s the moment before you rappel down a 40 foot high waterfall to the cheers of your work-team below…
But this is just level one and tomorrow the challenge gets steeper…..”
This could be your next corporate training venue. The wide expanse of the Sahyadri Mountains, a clear blue sky above and a gushing milky white waterfall to rappel down – Proboscis chooses the most pristine places in nature to give you that ‘intense’ experience of adventure! Imagine camping out on level one – halfway down a waterfall, under an open sky – and making dinner with the rest of your team.
So, where does the corporate training come into this picture?
Waterfall rappelling at Proboscis is a combination of adventure sports and corporate team building. The aim behind the exercise is to get teams of about 20 – 70 corporate members to work together and reach the final goal of ‘arriving at the base of the fall’.
Set over two weekends, this activity goes beyond just waterfall rappelling to include, other team building games and simulation exercises. The motive behind every activity is to enable participants to work together and thus foster teamwork.
Would you rather enhance those ‘team-building’ skills down the face of a waterfall, as opposed to a stuffy corporate room?
- Valley Crossing
“From where you’re perched, the valley floor is a 1000 ft. below, making the river (name required) seem like a tiny green serpent making its way between mountain ranges….
Its 300 mts. to the next mountain, where the rest of your team stands, cheering you on…..
It’s time to fly!
You spread your arms, kick off from the ledge and soar cross the valley….”
Valley Crossing is a 100% Adventure sports activity, designed purely to get you that adrenaline rush. Experience the feeling of flying across a valley strung only from above, to a set of ropes. Those who have zipped across this thousand ft. deep valley, at breakneck speed, swear by the experience and Proboscis trainers usually get several requests for ‘another quick zip across’.
So, if you’ve been looking for that perfect corporate get-away, a chance for the team to get some fresh air, relax and ‘bond’ with each other…. then this is an incredible option.
Proboscis offers a weekend-long, valley crossing adventure trip where the ultimate goal is – pure adventure!
The word adventure means different things for different people. Generally, adventure implies thrill and excitement, risks and dangers, and the unexpected and extraordinary experiences.
Proboscis promises to make Valley crossing an experience you’re not likely to forget.
Looking to really let your hair down and scream off that pent up work pressure? Try flying across a valley with us….
“Counting a million stars from the comfort of your sleeping bag…
No honking cars and chattering crowds…. only the sound of the occasional cricket draws you into a deep sleep…
Before you doze off, you make a mental note to remind yourself, that this was how life was meant to be lived….”
A getaway you will never want to get away from. Our philosophy is simple: When you take a break from life, you discover life itself. Despite going ‘ back to basics’ and camping out in the very bosom of Mother Nature, Proboscis offers you every creature comfort on its camping trips. This experience with nature does not have to be about hard beds or unhygienic food. Every need and comfort is well planned and taken care of.
Experience a world that is untouched, serene, and almost timeless. Start the day with a short hike around the area, imbibe the energy, the natural vibe, the call of the Kingfisher being the only distraction. Spend the morning following streams and discovering hidden waterfalls. Camping trips are clubbed together with one of more of our other activities including; trekking, waterfall rappelling, zorbing or valley crossing.
Of course, one is always welcome to do nothing at all: take a stroll around the campsite, recuperate around the evening bonfire; gaze at the night sky and thoroughly rejuvenate yourself!
Looking to recharge your batteries in the bosom of Mother Nature? Camp with us….
“You stop to take a breath, mid-stride and end up gasping at the beauty that surrounds you…
Deep within dense forest foliage, surrounded by trees of all sizes and innumerable shades of green… you follow a line of trekkers up to a hidden waterfall….
Your daily commute, pressures of your work day, the to-do list pending on your table… are now distant memories…..
All that matters now is the immense beauty of the Sahyadri mountains …”
The Sahyadri, with their rugged topography, rocky mountains and pinnacles, historic hill forts, huge lakes and extensive forest region – are a virtual paradise for trekking, climbing and camping. The Sahyadri provide a wide choice of outdoor and adventure to all lovers of outdoor life – the trekker, the climber and the nature lover. Proboscis offers one of the best treks in this region, following a trail takes you through lush green fields, remote villages, virgin forests and hidden falls.
The Sahyadri mountain ranges are dotted with hundreds of ancient hill forts. Proboscis organises treks to carefully selected forts from among these hundreds. We try our level best to take you to the most remote and obscure locations, where you can enjoy nature at its exclusive best. One of these locations is Maharastra’s oldest towns; Shrivardhan. Or, Harishchandraghad – a hill fort in Ahmednagar that boasts of remnants of the ‘Microlithic man’ and caves adorned from as far back at the 6th century.
All trekking activities are combined with one or more adventure sports activity like, waterfall rappelling, camping, zorbing, rock-climbing or river-rafting. Proboscis also organizes ‘Coastal Treks’ to pristine locations along Maharashtra’s coastline. Coastal treks offer groups a chance to camp on a beach, eat the local’s ‘fresh catch’, visit coconut farms or take a boat ride out into the sunset for some dolphin viewing.
Whether you are a hard-core trekker who wants the toughest treks, someone who likes to go outdoors and just relax, or one who enjoys nature watching, we have a programme ready for you.

- River Rafting
And your office team of six, unrecognizable in their life jackets and helmets all put metal to water and start paddling hard.
Grinning, puffing and eyes sparkling, this seems nothing like the group you work with daily…..
Transformed by the task at hand of ‘beating the other team’ to the river bend, your group of colleagues now work as one solid unit….
Who knew a simple paddling exercise could foster team-spirit and camaraderie…”
Many of us may have seen river rafting, either on a river trip, or on the television – and its looks exciting! A big rapid, a colourful raft weaving a path through the waves and all the randomness of white water. You may have wondered, if you could be that person in the picture? But what if, it was you AND your entire office team?
Try our one-day river rafting trip that focuses on building team-spirit through navigating the bends and currents of a river.
Let Proboscis show you the ropes, from paddling in a straight line, to negotiating class 1 and 2 rapids, to taking the plunge into the tongue of a Class 3 or 4 rapid. The activity is for both experienced rafters and first timers alike.
Even the most nervous, non-swimmer is soon found balancing off the edge of the raft, determined to paddle harder.
Of course when the entire team ends up in the water…. another team building exercise of getting back on the raft begins…
Come join the splash!!!
- Rock Climbing
“Eyes focused on the summit, you only have a few more meters to climb…
You grip this 200 ft. rock face with all the strength left in your fingers and lift yourself a little higher up its near vertical surface…
Nothing but pure self-belief has brought you so far…”
Dukes Nose near Khandala, India is a huge pinnacle between Mumbai and Pune that is shaped like a nose or thumb. The sights from the top are incredible as one is able to overlook a winding stretch of the Sahyadari range, dosed in shades of green and sunlight.
Climb up the near vertical, 200 ft natural rock face, of Duke’s nose along with the office colleagues and experience the power of accomplishing a daunting task. Separate activities are available for beginners and experienced climbers.
Rock climbing is a test of strength, concentration and coordination as well as skill and technique. A climber learns from experience that the mountain must not be taken for granted. It’s the surest way to test those guts and discover your ‘X-factor’.
Come join us for a climb you’ll never forget.
Years ago, Japanese manufacturers were threatened with higher quality products that often cost less. The response was the Quality Revolution. In turn, US manufacturers had to embrace Quality Circles, TQM and other methods, in order to survive an ever changing market scenario. The bottom-line has now become ‘innovate or become redundant’
In order for companies to innovate and ‘think outside the box’, they require human resources that are capable of the same. Developing this pool of talent doesn’t happen without conscious planning and effort. Employees should be provided with the required tools to unlock and enhance their innovation skills, generate ideas to optimise their effectiveness and efficiency.
With the right ‘training’ employees can begin thinking innovatively, and proactively work to resolve complex problems and uncover timely solutions.
Experiential learning with the blend of adventure and outbound – are a time proven and effective method to train and prepare corporate executives irrespective of their levels and responsibilities – within companies of all sizes and agendas.
Proboscis’s experiential learning programme enhances the inherent potential, strengths of human resource within a company and drastically improves an individual’s performance.
Understanding & managing change are the dominant themes of management today. Adapting to an ever changing environment is essential for success in the corporate world.
Through the medium of adventure sports, simulation games and group activities, Proboscis, addresses the following issues of change management:
• Why people resist change?
• Types of resistance
• Reaction to change
• Tips for managing change
A team is a group of people coming together to collaborate to reach a shared goal or task for which they hold themselves mutually accountable. However, learning to work as a team doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Hence training groups to work effectively is an important component of management.
Again, through the medium of adventure sports, simulation games and group activities, Proboscis, works to enhance team synergy and group dynamics – thus increasing overall productivity and output.
We focus on – S.C.O.R.E
• Clear Roles and Responsibility
• Open Communication
• Rapid Response
• Effective Leadership
Leadership is a social influence. A leader initiates action, guides his team towards the goal and the result is change. Too many organizations are over managed and under led. This in turn can reduce organizational vitality and result in low productivity over time. What is needed is development of leadership capabilities at the Top Level that will put an Organization on the path of success.
Through the medium of adventure sports, simulation games and group activities, Proboscis, works to scope out potential leadership within an organization, thus identifying an important set of individuals that could be trained to become future leaders in the company.
The Leadership Grid Adventure methodology, is a unique powerful combination which:
• Reinforces the grid concepts through intense experiences.
• Enables every individual to realize his/her unique potential and styles.
• Integrate the same to enhance the quality of relationships
• Utilize both the above to consistently achieve excellent results.
Take your organization to the next level.
